Fun and natural photography and videography from Documentary Wedding Photographers, Heather Butterworth Photography. We are a fun loving husband and wife team who live in Yorkshire with our family and highly strung cat, Stuart. We offer a unique unposed storytelling style, documenting all the important moments as well as epic couple portraits, using our stunning signature lighting. Our wedding photography loves the light and colour as well as all the beautiful, funny and sweet moments. We won't ask you to do too much posing and we don't do any cheesy moments either. We also offer wedding videography including aerial films using our drone that has the same natural light loving style as our photography.
Winning photos
Hayley and Lewis had their wedding in Harrogate and it was a really hot day in June. As the temperature started to fall, the sun started dropping behind the hotel and the lovely golden light shone onto the traffic island across the road from the hotel which was surrounded by two very busy roads. I knew this wouldn't matter with the perfect lighting and the right camera settings and angles. I'm so glad that Hayley and Lewis put their trust in me for this, as we did get a few puzzled looks from people driving by but it was very much worth it!
99th CollectionThe sun was just starting to set so Hannah and Jason took at little walk through the field at Spicer Manor and I captured this beautiful photograph of them just before the sunset behind them. They then went happily back off to their puddings!
96th CollectionThe weather was terrible at Katy and Ryan's stunning wedding at The Oakwood at Ryther in Yorkshire. I'd taken in door photos all day! But while the guests enjoyed the wedding breakfast I wanted to use the weather, together with some lighting to create a dramatic shot making the most of the rain, cloud and the scenery, so I set this shot up and grabbed Katy and Ryan for 2 minutes to create this beautiful atmospheric shot.
81st CollectionLaura and Andy's beautiful wedding day at Bowcliffe Hall in Yorkshire finished with a stunning golden sunset after a cloud filled day. Laura was game for climbing over a gate and into a field filled with sheep to get this photo just before the sunset and it was totally worth it!
78th CollectionLyndsey and Ashley were the first couple to get married at the beautiful new wedding venue Ponden Mill near Haworth in Yorkshire. They had had to postpone their day due to the covid pandemic and were determined to have some fun with their close family and friends. Lyndsey's face says it all on this photo! Pure ecstatic joy! A brilliant in the moment capture while confetti was thrown that totally sums up the feeling on the day.
77th CollectionSophie and Ralph had a beautiful elegant wedding at The Oakwood at Ryther near York. We had a stunning sunset engagement shoot a few weeks before and Sophie wanted some similar shots on the wedding day but the weather wasn't in agreement! So instead, I used some lighting and off camera flash to recreate the warmth and romantic feel of a sunset and they were thrilled with the results.
76th CollectionThe lovely Jess and Oli on their pre-wedding shoot at Otley Chevin Forest Park. We had had days of rain and we'd postponed our photo session the week before due to the horrendous weather. I'm really glad that we did though as we ended up with this perfect sunset overlooking Otley.
74th CollectionThe happy walk from hotel room to the ceremony is always a lovely one to photograph, with excitement and anticipation radiating from the wedding party. This gorgeous trio of bridesmaids were a dream to photography throughout the day, always smiling and getting stuck right in to the celebrations. In the background, cousin Rich had just collected Sarah ready to walk her down the aisle. Every face tells a story in this shot, and I love how there are five pairs of eyes all twinkling away at what is to come.
