Usually this kinda pics we are seeing when the ceremony is over and couple is coming out of the church. This actual moment was captured while there was going couple´s outrance of wedding party. The whole day was magical and we were shooting this day with my colleague who videographed the day. We spoke afterwards that we just felt like we were part of those regular wedding guests, and not vendors. Lovely day, very beautiful couple and one of the nicest outrance I´ve seen! Show more

This image I took in my hometown, Utrecht. There’s a famous tower close to where the picture is taken and I was looking for something interesting to do with the couple and the tower, during a little walk / portrait time during the wedding day. But I couldn’t find something I liked that much, so I just said to the couple to take the opportunity to have a moment of the two of them being together during the day. It gave me time to think and look for an interesting frame, which I suddenly found in the window of a shop, where the sun perfectly lit my couple and created a beautiful reflection in there. Most couples want to have their pictures taking at over the top romantic places, like the beach, forest and lovely ancient cities like Amsterdam.
But this couple, Danny and Yfke, wanted to do their love shoot in a very contemporary city in The Netherlands: Rotterdam.
This old city was bombed during world war II and is rebuild in a modern way, with lots of glass and mirroring buildings.
This picture is taken in a business district, the opposite of a romantic spot. During sunset, when it was already dark on ground-level and the last light of the sunset could only shrub the tall buildings in the sky. Show more

Slawomir Urban Berlin (Germany)

It was basically a very spontaneous shoot. She was waiting to be called to have her bridal entrance. It was an intimate moment and i was lucky to capture it.
The wedding was in Berlin, Germany. Show more

Canoë Segeren Breda (Netherlands)

This image was taken at the ‘Markthal’, a new and iconic building which has recently been added to the rich architecture of the city of Rotterdam. Peter and Sarah have a special connection with this place because they live right next door to it and do most of their shopping there, being it a huge indoor market. As such, it also features an underground car park and this is the escalator that leads to it. As I was drawn to the symmetry and shape of it, I asked the bride & groom to position themselves at the bottom and waited for the split second when no one else was on it, to get the shot. Show more

Serine had one part of her dress on a mannequin and the other part hung up behind her. I had here jumping all around holding her veil for this shot and she did it with every ounce of happiness and excitement. When her mother saw this picture she told me that I have shown her a part of serine they have never seen before. A happy, young, beautiful bride. Show more

This bride and groom took photos after their wedding day, on their honeymoon in the Dominican Republic. They were fearless and amazing to work with, not giving up to get the perfect shot sharing a kiss underwater. It was breathtaking Show more

This photograph was shot during my last wedding of the season. It was a lovely autumn wedding with falling leaves and amazing colors. The couple actually got married in a converted tree hut. At the end of the photoshoot, we needed to hide a for few minutes, because they didn't want the arriving guests to see them yet. So we decided to hide near the entrance of the hut. There was this beautiful wooden wall, which I loved right away. The colour and texture of the wood was a great fit for the autumn theme of the wedding. Combine that with a beautiful couple in love, and this is what you get! Show more

I had this shot in my mind as soon as I got to the location and scouted it. I didn't want it to be too traditional and when I realised that the angle and composition made it possible to do a tilt-shift effect, we decided to go for it. The wedding day gave us some hard times though: It was an early winter day in Vantaa, southern Finland so it was not a surprise that the weather sucked. Barely over 0 celsius, super cloudy and it even started to rain a bit. It was getting quite dark too. We had no time to waste so we just went straight to this "main shot" of the day. We tried a couple different poses and the lovely wedding couple Anni & Lasse nailed it in this one. Phew. We were able to shoot maybe 20 minutes after this shot and then it got too dark & wet. Luckily we got enough good shots and even a couple of really great ones. Pressure cooking. Show more

Why is it always the bride´s bouquet that they are throwing, why can it be something else? That was the idea about this picture when I thought about these throwing thingies. I needed to took few shots and then we got it. Usually the rings were in wrong position or something else that wouldn´t be so nicely balanced. It hasn´t always be rings laying on the bouquet or mirrored table, let´s try to get something new! Show more

All tough it might seem as an after wedding shot, this image was actually taken during the wedding day itself. The wedding was held in the Zeeland province, close to the Belgian border in the Netherlands. My couple planned to have portraits of them taken in Antwerp, which is about a 20-30 minute drive. However, we couldn’t find a place to park our car, so in the end we had only 30 minutes for portraits, whereas around one hour had been scheduled. I was lucky with this great location (Antwerp Central Station), but really had to run and hurry. When we really needed to go back to the car, we crossed that station again and I couldn’t help but taking 2 more minutes and was able to create this shot. We made it right on time before the ceremony started, by the way :) Show more

This image was captured with an incredibly strong wind at one of my favorite places in San Francisco. I love the blue pattern leading to the couple kissing and the majesty of the surrounding structures. Show more

I took this photo at the Zuiderzee museum Enkhuizen in the Netherlands. The bride and groom were a joyful couple who didn’t want the “standard” pictures. This was a spontaneous moment as I was searching for a nice spot and at the same time the bride started to run and tease the groom. Show more

Marina Schneider Düsseldorf (Germany)

This photograph was taken at a magic place - the Castle Anholt in Germany. My attention was attracted by a wild growing meadow near the Castle. It was such an authentic moment to capture the picture – the couple in love, the flowers all around, the castle behind... As if there is nothing and nobody else in the world except them. Only him and her. Only there for each other. Totally in love. Show more

Heike Delmore Toronto (Canada) @heikedelmore

On the beautiful shores of Lake Erie, tucked away behind the Sprucewood winery in Ontario Canada, we found the perfect location for this dramatic yet whimsical engagement photo. We decided to have some fun with the shot - and this lovely couple kicked off their shoes, embraced the sand, water and grey clouds rolling in. I can’t wait for their wedding! I feel so honoured to have my photo chosen for this award among (in my opinion) the best wedding photographers in the world. Thank you. Show more

Jean-Jacques Fabien Port Louis (Mauritius)

Jye and Emilie contacted me a year prior to their weddings. Emilie is from Mauritius and Jye from Australia and both live and work in Australia.
The picture was taken the day of their wedding after the ceremony at the Church. We had chosen a spot in some historical ruins on the east coast of Mauritius for a photoshoot session with the bridesmaids.
It was late afternoon and the light was decreasing quickly. So we had to work fast and well in order to have the best shots. Fortunately the ruins were superb and offered good substance for photos.
There were arches facing the setting sun and I got the Idea to create a silhouette shot and place all the subjects in front one of them and placed a flash behind.
When I edited the picture into black and white and increased contrast, I discovered that the arch and the sky and clouds behind looked like a huge setting sun. A few tweaks made this picture look out of this world Show more

Jeremy Keltner St. Louis (United States)

Never having seen the inside of the University City, City Hall, I quickly understood why Jessica and Michael fell involve withstand wanted it to a part of the backdrop of their wedding day. A timeless venue like this deserved a very classic/romantic moment like we captured as Michael was giving his new bride a kiss. I believe this is one of those shots that will stand the test of time and that they will enjoy for years to come. Show more

Can you imagine a groom who really hates rain and is getting married on a rainy day? That is Teunis! Although I, as a photographer, love photo sessions in the rain, he wasn’t looking forward to the outdoor wedding shoot that day.
Big was his joy when he heard that his family gave him an after wedding shoot in Paris, so they could skip the session in the rain
It took some flexibility with the planning, he was very, very focussed on the weather forecasts, but we had a great day in Paris.
Everywhere we went, people wanted to take pictures of the lovely couple. The city of love turned into a forest of selfie sticks. Teunis and Annemieke felt like movie stars.
We traveled the city by subway, from Montmartre to the Eiffel Tower and finally there was one moment when nobody was watching, except for me.
A pure moment of two people in love having the second best day of their life. Show more
