Fourteenth Collection
This photo was taken in the "trash the dress" shooting of Miriam & Xabi, such an amazing couple from Vizcaya, north of Spain. The location is called "San Juan de Gaztelugatxe" and is situated in the town of Bermeo, in the basque country. There are exactly 241 steps to get to the hermitage at the top of the location from which I did this photo with my Nikon d750 and 85mm lens. We waited until the sunset to get that orange light that I love.
This picture was taken in "La Mancha" (Spain) during te first few days of April. It was a very special wedding for us and carefully organised by the wedding couple. This photograph shows one of the moments where Aroa, the bride is being helped by her sister and her mother. It was such an important moment for them. Aroa and David' s wedding has been one of the most moving we have ever covered.
The perfect sun flare situation presented itself through this arch of roses for Emma and Anthony’s Wedding. The photo shoot took place at Brookleigh Estate in Western Australia.
Ste and Emma met when Emma rode up to the pub the pub on her horse for a quick drink. Both keen golfers, they held their wedding reception in a marquee at their local Golf Club in the Northeast of England. The photo was a purely spontaneous moment caught just as they embraced during their first dance and at the precise moment that their family let off a confetti canon. The light from the off-camera flash has captured confetti, glitter-ball and a look of joy that summed up their entire day.
Monkey pod trees are very common here in Hawaii, but they are so beautiful. They can grow taller than 80 ft. and live for hundreds of years. I saw this particular tree and knew it would frame the two of them perfectly. The blue sky and yellow sun goes so well with the dark shadows from the tree hanging over the couple. It's as if the tree is protecting them from the rest of the world in this precious moment.
These guys were such good fun and were already having a great day whilst getting ready for the wedding. We were making our way to the church when I saw the zebra crossing and said to the guys 'who wants an Abbey road moment' at which point they all started laughing and just lined up. They left the ideal spacing and strode across like they owned it! I thought it was a really fun shot that the boys will look back on and laugh. What you don't see is the line of cars behind me all patiently waiting, luckily we nailed it in one take.
Katie & Karl had trusted me with just doing my thing on the day and so when it came to portrait time it was beautiful light outside, but I was more intrigued by the beautiful light inside. We only had 5 mins as the cars were waiting and I think they must have thought what is this guy doing but that's why client trust is so important. The tricky thing was finding a pose that could work with the small slivers of light and finally adding the movement of the veil gave it that something else. I'm really happy with how it came out, but more importantly, so are they!
This picture is made in a prestigious hotel in Barcelona. When I knew that the wedding has done on the Rey Juan Carlo´s Hotel, I already knew I wanted to take this photo. This made at the hotel hall, Bride and Groom were in the elevator. Although it seems incredible this photo took at 16.00h pm so It had a lot of light, but I knew how I was going to prepare the photo and then retouch. My assistant was inside the elevator with my light focus. She was lying on the floor by illuminating the couple. I just needed the perfect time to take the picture. I tried twice and then I had the photo. After that when I came my home I retouch the photo as I had thought before making.
This photo was shot on January the 30th, in Northern Italy. Elena and Enrico are two joyful people, definitely in love with each other and with life. They chose the tree as a symbol for their tableau de marriage, and so wanted so much to have a pic of them near a tree during their wedding day. I was so lucky to find this huge one in the garden nearby. The reception location, so fascinating even without leaves, with its strong branches bravely spreading in the cold winter evening sky. I think that everything is artistic in Nature, and decided to capture the Magic, only looking for shapes, black and white graphical lines. They were so happy to have this giant tree as their special wedding witness!
Did the post wedding shoot for Abhilash and Preethi! It was an amazing experience as we were diving on the roads and searching for a location to shoot! I saw the sunset and the location and was prepared to take a silhouette, but the sunburst took my attention and ended up with this beautiful picture! The place was very much peaceful with trees around but it was a little threatening! The couple was ready for any pose and this definitely makes it easy for the photographer to try out new things! Over all the shoot was an awesome experience and I was very much confident that I would get an award for this picture!
Andrey and Alyona are the Lithuanians living in Norway. Their Scandinavian wedding was really frosty, so they could not wait to meet the gentle tropical sea and sun. They wanted some unusual pictures and they got them after climbing high into the mountains, where we have found an unfinished restaurant with with magnificent views.
Chad and Clara were the picture perfect couple at their wedding at the very rustic Barn at Casey’s Lumber Mill in Woodland Park, Colorado. They both had such a great time shooting unique photos. They were made for one another, so in love. They made the job much easier by their fun-loving attitudes. The sun was just going down when this shot was taken next to the old rustic barn, making it such a true old fashioned timeless moment that they will cherish for many years.
Every picture is special to a photographer because the hard work behind every picture is known only to them! This particular picture hits my top fav list! And that's the reason I decided to send his picture for Weddison Award and I grabbed an award for this and nothing could be more boosting than being appreciated for your work! The loving couple Vinoth and Sathya are such sweet people! They had a proper BigFat wedding! Indian weddings are full of ceremonies and relatives and it gets difficult to enter the crowd and click a picture! I kept switching places to fix and angle! I tried all possible composition and finally fixed this one! I was stuck in between the crowd and literally had to play hard and push their hands in all possible direction so that I get a proper view for this shot! Waited for expression from people around them through my viewfinder and I am glad I got this shot! It gives immense pleasure that I won the award for this picture! Hard work always gets paid through best appreciation!
We traveled down to Lake Lure, North Carolina to photograph the wedding of a veteran wounded in Afghanistan. After the ceremony, the bride asked for a picture of her and her bridesmaids fishing off the dock near the venue, because she was a bit of a country girl and had always enjoyed angling as a child. What made this moment even more special for the bride, though, was when her five-year-old new stepdaughter saw everyone with rods in hand, grabbed one of her own and jumped into the shot. That small gesture reaffirmed for the bride that her husband’s child wanted her to be part of her life and family.
Inspired to the trendy of the summer, this photo was born as for joke with the bridegrooms that have wanted express, in a so important moment of their life, "she takes my hand and we goes together away for our road...
Becca and Stephan had the most colourful wedding and had literally bucket loads of confetti. I knew I wanted to get as close and wide as possible when shooting them throwing the confetti over them and sure enough I captured this off-the-cuff moment of the groom getting confetti right in the face! I love the expression on their faces and knew when I looked back it would be one of my favourites from their day. It’s not a typical confetti shot but it encapsulates this couple and their own colourful story.
This photo is of an engaged couple made in a village an abandoned village. Made with a mixture of natural light and flash. The location is around Elvas (Portugal).
This photo was taken in Cornalvo Natural Park, Mérida (Spain). I mixed a Typycal south-Spain landscape with couple´s silhouette. Colorful spring flowers make it more attractive visually.
It was a fresh windy day. Seville and Eugene enjoyed the free expanses of the Crimea, he breathed in the sea air! Somewhere far below seagulls fly. A feeling that newlyweds is now fly up like a bird and will soar over the expanses of the Black Sea.
For this picture, we had to climb to the top of this large hill, but the view from the top was worth the trek. I knew they would be able to give a great jump scene because the bride is a basketball player, and the groom a coach. The two of them met at their local league. This image captures their bright and exciting spirit perfectly.
This gorgeous couple Alex and Irina came to Koh Samui just to relax. Inspired by their slow and long rendezvouses in the shade of the coconut trees they have decided to do a romantic photo shoot. The final touch was the sunset, that was simply stunning on that day.
Sometimes all the elements of a photograph just fall naturally into place. It was a day with thick Summer heat and the meadow was ablaze with colour. I loved how the shadow from the trees on the left were sweeping towards us and I asked the couple to go for a walk together. They had a natural chemistry. The open blue sky and the ochre field is what makes this photograph a favourite for me.
