Mark Coombes

About me
Mark Coombes Photography offers authentic and artistic wedding photography for couples who want their day captured in a natural, relaxed and storytelling style. Born and raised in West Cork, Mark brings over a decade of professional experience and a deep connection to the Irish landscape, people and light that shape his work.Mark discovered a love for visual storytelling that now defines his approach to wedding photography. His background in photographing landscapes, sport and travel has shaped a style that is emotive, observational and rich in atmosphere. At the heart of Mark’s work is a genuine love for people and their stories. Each wedding is approached as a unique narrative, revealed through pre-wedding meetings, personal connections, and the way couples interact with their families and friends on the day. He works in an unobtrusive and relaxed manner, allowing real moments to unfold naturally, capturing true smiles, laughter and emotion as they happen. Couples are encouraged to fully enjoy their day, to be present with their guests, while Mark quietly documents the moments that matter most. The result is a beautiful, honest collection of images that reflect not only how your wedding looked, but how it truly felt. With his work internationally awarded and featured in numerous wedding magazines and publications, Mark Coombes Photography is a trusted choice for couples seeking timeless, story-driven wedding photography across Cork and throughout Ireland.

stopped outside tree lined old cottage with dappled light streaming through the trees. A patch of light was falling on car door outside bride & groom at a 45 degree angle and I placed a speedlight on the dashboard of the car with a grid to light the couple.

Fun champagne spray in blue hour after dinner while waiting for band to set up for first dance. Two light set up, front light off at 45 degree angle and light behind couple to enhance the spray effect.

Placed brides reflection on grooms back in the window, bride was lit with a video light from camera left. Originally I only planned to have her reflection in the photo but preferred wider view with both bride and her reflection in the shot.

Shot with available light, bride embraces groom, her Dad walks away head slightly bowed as 'his little girl' has found her 'true love' , groom's mum looks on with a tear in her eye, thrilled her 'little boy' has found his 'true love'. A beautiful happy moment.

Bride's dad is a wonderful musician and I wanted to create something a little different for the bride, so after dinner while the band set up for first dance, I asked the Bride's Dad to join us as we strolled down the hill and onto the seashore and he played the bagpipes in the still air as his daughter & her 'new husband' practiced their first dance in the setting sun.
135th Collection
Two light set up with a slight difference, set the back light to spread and highlight the couple, and the front light be a little more subtle and just hightlight the bride's face.
134th Collection
went for a walk with bride & groom after dinner and took some photos on these beautiful steps, added some smoke in the background for dramatic effect.
