Hello Brides and Grooms! I am based in County Cork in Ireland and I live next to the Atlantic Ocean. I photograph weddings in Cork and Kerry and I love to use the natural landscape and seascapes in my photographs. I have been photographing weddings for over 10 years and I know all the best beach and forest locations. I also love to use off camera flash to make unique creative photographs for my couples. My main aim on a wedding day is for my couple to have a relaxed day with lots of fun and to have a set of beautiful photographs to treasure, that will form the beginning of a historical document for their family.
It was a beautiful afternoon in West Cork. The guests had just gone into the dining room and I had some time with the bride and groom. We went to a headland below the hotel, and I had this image in mind. I got my couple to stand in the location I had chosen and I went back upon the hill and shot this photograph with a 16mm lens. I'm delighted the judges liked it as much as I do.
We could see that there was going to be lovely sunset, so we got the couple to come out between courses and climb a small hill near the dining room which put them at the perfect angle to catch the setting sun and create the silhouette.
On the morning of the wedding, before we left for the church, I was doing some portraits with the bride and I noticed a spot with good light and a dark background. When the bride sat down, I saw how the shadow fell across her face, so I positioned her so that it fell across her eyes, but retained the catch lights.
The hotel had the fantastic curved staircase and i wanted to use it somehow in a shot. While we were on our way down to the ceremony, I got the bridesmaid to hold out the veil and all the curves fell in to place.
At the end of a fantastic autumn elopement session around West Cork, we timed it to arrive at the headland overlooking the beach at sunset, to capture then last photographs of the day.
This photograph was taken in FitzGerald's Park in the centra of Cork City. I've always liked the piece of architecture, it's a stand for sports spectators to stand in and on the day, I goy my couple to stand, slightly apart, in front if it.
This gatehouse is at the entrance to Fota Island Resort in Cork, Ireland. The hotel laid on a golf buggy to bring the couple, the videographer and myself around the grounds for some photographs. I directed my couple walk past the building with the groom in the lead while looking back at his bride and this was the best shot from the sequence.
Inchydoney is a popular beach for wedding photos and when the tide is out, you can squeeze in to this cave and frame your couple in the entrance.
